PTI: May 2013 Blog Hop Challenge

by cbaptista

Hi there!  I know it’s been quiet here lately…sorry about that!  Things have been pretty busy this time of year.  Plus, I decided to try my hand at submitting to magazine calls so that’s kept me busy too!  (I’ve been lucky & successful at it so far…more on that later :)  )

Anyway, I saw Papertrey Ink’s Blog Hop Bouquet Builder Challenge for this month and really wanted to participate.   So, I decided to make a card inspired by this Bouquet Builder color palette:

This is what I came up with:

I hope you’re having a pleasant weekend!  Thanks for taking time to stop by…I appreciate it! :)

MIM #106: Two-Toned Stamped Flowers

by cbaptista

The challenge for this week’s Make It Monday #106 is to incorporate two-toned stamped flowers in your project.  This is what I came up with:

Here is a close up of the layering:

I love those flowers!  :)  These flowers work really well with this technique.  The flower buds are two-toned as well as the stems of the flowers.  The leaves are one-tone, stamped in the darker shade of green.  I inked the edges of the card with an off-white ink to soften the background a little.  This was a really fun challenge.  I love the extra dimension the two-tone stamping gives, especially with these flowers.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

MIM #105: Card #4

by cbaptista

Hi again!  This is my last card for this challenge.  Told ya I got extra glitter borders!  haha  ;)  Seriously though, I think it’s my favorite of the bunch.  It’s pretty much a one layer floral card.  First, I seldom make one layer cards…I love my foam tape too much!  lol  And, when I do attempt to stamp out a one layer floral design it just looks off to me.  So, I was very pleasantly surprised by how well this turned out.  (But, I think it has more to do with the fabulously designed stamp set than me!)  I also really love the glitter scallop border at the end.  It gives the card a perfect amount of a little something extra.  And, Dawn is right, that Martha Stewart white gold glitter is perfect…just the right touch of glitter without it taking too much away from the card.  Anyway, all these elements/challenges that went into this card resulted in something I’m really happy with.  And, I hope you like it too.  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

MIM #105: Card #3

by cbaptista

I made another card for the Glitter Trim Challenge, MIM #105.  This time, I let the pointy end of a glittered heart border peek through.  It kind of looks like a fence, doesn’t it?

Hope you’re having a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

I have another card for PTI’s MIM #105 Challenge this week.  I made a bunch of glitter borders because I only wanted to be covered in glitter once.  lol  I had a slight idea of what I wanted to do but made extra borders in different colors, etc. just in case.  It’s good to have extra, isn’t it?  ;)

Thanks for stopping by!

MIM #105: Glitter Trim

by cbaptista

Hi!  I’m back with another card submission to this week’s Make It Monday Challenge.  I was a bit (creatively) pooped after all the cards I made for their Anniversary challenges earlier this month but I didn’t want to be away for too long so here I am!  :)  The challenge this week is to create a custom glittered trim and incorporate it into your project.  This is what I came up with:

For something so pretty and fun looking it sure was messy and wasn’t all that fun to work with!  I’m still covered with the stuff!  lol  I’m going to try to de-glitter myself again…wish me luck! lol

Thanks for stopping by!

February 2013 Card Collection

by cbaptista

I made a LOT of cards in the span of a couple of weeks for some challenges.  They were spread among many posts so I thought it would be neat to group them up and see together:

You can click on an image to see a larger view as well as get info of its original post.

These are all the cards I made for the Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenges (plus a Make It Monday Challenge), in just a span of 10 days!  Phew!  And, I’m still making cards…for challenges and for fun! :)  I’ll have to update this at the end of the month…it will be neat seeing all the cards I made this month.  I kinda like having it all grouped together like this so maybe I’ll start doing a “month in review”-type post.  We’ll see.  :)

PS.  I seriously have more cards than I know what to do with so if you’re interested in purchasing any cards please email me (cbaptista.01@gmail.com).  The cards are between $1-$3 (plus s&h).  :)

Thanks for stopping by!

PTI Boutique Accessory Challenge

by cbaptista

The challenge today at PTI is to create a homemade accessory of some sort.  So, I took a tiny break from card making and made some felt flower hair clips…okay, a lot of them.  They were SO easy to make.  And, so fast to assemble when you have all the flower pieces ready to go, especially those tri-colored ones!  These will make great gifts to some little girls I know.  I think the flat ones would make some cute bookmarks too!

Mini Felt Flower Blooms: I folded 4 of the middle sized Beautiful Blooms felt flowers into fourths and sewed them onto a 5th die cut flower.  Then I sewed a button through all of the layers.  The blooms were hot glued on a small alligator clip covered with ribbon.  This method of making these flowers is found here on Nichole Heady’s blog.

Large Felt Flower Blooms: Same method as making the Mini Felt Flower Blooms only using the largest flower.

Tri-colored Felt Flowers: I stacked two of each size Beautiful Blooms II felt flowers and sewed a button through all the layers.  The flower is hot glued on an alligator clip covered with ribbon. VERY easy to do.

I got a little carried away making these!  They were SO fun to make and a very good change of pace from making cards!  lol

Thanks for stopping by!

Final Cards For PTI Favorites Inspiration Challenge

by cbaptista

The PTI Designers’ Favorites Inspiration challenge closes tomorrow morning so this will probably be the last set of cards I will be submitting.

My first card for today was inspired again by Jessica Witty’s “Congratulations” card (column 1, row 2).  I clearly love the herringbone pattern…lol ;)

My second card for today was inspired again by Dawn McVey’s “Merry Christmas” card (column 1, row 3).  I tend to prefer stamping my backgrounds and this layout really showcases that.  So simple yet makes a big statement.

My next 2 cards were also inspired by 2 others of Dawn McVey’s Favorites- the “Thank You” card (2nd column, 1st row) and the “Hello” card (2nd column, 3rd row):

And, my last card was inspired by Maile Belle’s “Smile” card (2nd column, 2nd row):

Thanks for stopping by!
