MIM #103: The Die Cut Double-Up

by cbaptista on 02/09/2013

This week’s Make It Monday is The Die Cut Double-Up.  The challenge is to create a project that utilizes a die cut within a die cut.  This is what I came up with:

Is this maybe considered a Die Cut Triple-Up?  Lol!  I die cut a butterfly into a frame from Pretty Peonies and that frame was die cut into a Mat Stack 5 layer.  Here is a close up of the layers:

The butterfly pattern is made up of washi tape (I just taped the base layer with that pattern).  The Pretty Peonies frame is stamped with a text pattern.  And the Mat Stack 5 is stamped with a herringbone pattern and then heat embossed with black embossing powder.  They were all layered using foam tape (double thickness for the Mat Stack layer).  The “YOU” flag was made using washi tape taped over some cardstock and then trimmed to size.  The “YOU” is stamped and then heat embossed.  I stapled it twice onto the card (don’t look at the staples too closely…I need a new stapler!  lol).  The top of the card base was stamped with a chevron pattern.  And, I used black washi tape to create a simple border.

Thanks for stopping by!
