MIM #49: Ghost Masking

by cbaptista on 01/20/2012

This week’s Make It Monday challenge at PTI was to create something using the ghost masking technique as demonstrated by the talented Betsy Veldman.  This is what I came up with:

So, this challenge totally took me out of my comfort zone, on so many levels.  I don’t really like to do masking techniques…it’s just a potential for great frustration when this should be a relaxing hobby (I mean, I have two little ones, so isn’t that enough for one day?).  This color scheme is definitely new for me.  It’s much more bold and colorful than I’m used to.  And, this is probably the flattest card that I have ever made.  (I can’t believe there’s no dimensional adhesive on this card!  I even almost left it as a completely flat card, but added the bling and twine at the last minute.  Baby steps. Baby steps.)

Overall, I really like how this card turned out (even if it’s not quite perfect).  I really like the effect the ghost masking achieves.  I think it’s one I can find myself using again in the future.  And to think, I initially considered not doing this challenge!  I’m so glad I participated!
